Covered Bridge Project Information

The Friends of The Covered Bridge, (an organization whose current members are from various Smith-Cotton High School Classes), have constructed a scale model of the old bridge in Centennial Park on East 16th Street. The bridge is a foot-bridge over an existing bridge in the park and has sign, color, buttresses and landscaping. Formal presentation was made to the City of Sedalia on July 4, 2004.
The original bridge was constructed in the 19th Century, destroyed by vandalism in the 20th Century and ever since the day the bridge was destroyed May 30, 1966, many had envisioned its reconstruction. With the involvement of interested citizens that vision has become a reality!! Click on the Bridge for details of how to memorialize a loved one with an etched brick on the walkway.
